Basically you can convert anything anywhere if you fully know BOTH formats. Since yosh's doc about ug1 and ug2 is not full at all, i doubt you will port between ug1 and ug2 unless you'll reveal it's format by yourself. If we're talking about THAW i even dunno if anyone tried to find its map format...

If it exports into OBJ I should be able to load into basically any 3D tool should I not?
eh, that's the aim of this project :P
well if you'll load LA or AP in zModeler you'll find garbage... for 3ds max it works perfectly.

well checksum is a part of format. NS added several new sections, plus they modified existing ones, so it can't be loaded in bsp viewer. btw level works without "wallride-able or not" data :P

actionly there is official renderware bsp exporter for 3ds max 3, but it is incompatible with thps3, since neversoft added their own data, that you can't export. so I copied object from exported file and inserted it in "burn_sky.bsp" file. this will work for simple models only, smth like less than 1...

it would be great if you can put support for textures yes, most probably i will add it. also i could add vertex lightning if i find how to add in obj (if it's even possible). ahh there will be a option to reconvert the files to thps3??? it's nearly impossible to make "click and play" thps3 tool sin...

Hi BSP2OBJ is a tool that I made that will allow you to import textured THPS3 maps into your 3d editor such as 3ds max or zModeler. It converts THPS3 BSP files to OBJ format.
